For our first presentation, we were assigned chapters from the book, each pertaining to a different topic. Each group was in charge of providing the class with a brief overlook at the chapter that was assigned without the class having to read them. For the first group that presented, they were in charge of chapter 3 which was Intercultural Communication. This chapter focused on how communication tends to work in between different cultures. It talked heavily about how differences in small things such as beliefs and traditions can make communicating just that much more difficult, but not impossible by any means. The chapter also spoke about how anxiety might arise when communicating interculturally, but is completely normal and nothing to fear. It mentioned other barries such as the belief that one's culture is superior to others, or not understanding how life is for them, etc. Our classmates did a great job of presenting the chapter to us and made sure we understood what was talked ...

BLOG POST #2       For this activity, presentation, assignment, or whatever you want to call it, I had the pleasure of experiencing an engaging and informative session. All three groups managed to captivate my attention and provide valuable insights on their respective topics. Each group brought something unique to the table, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on their performances. First, let's talk about Group 1, which also happens to be my group. I must say, I'm proud of our collective effort. We delivered a presentation that was not only efficient but also engaging and educational. It's not every day that a group project goes so smoothly, and I genuinely believe that this was one was better than the last presenta...

In our next group presentation, we all had a global theme, which was happiness. Everyone in our class that were in groups had to choose one of the following: Self Care, good eating, and Pay it Forward. The first group presented self care, group two talked about Paying it Forward, while we presented about good eating. Starting with the first group presenting self care. They all said how important it is to take care of yourself, it can include things that make you happy, or for your own physical and mental health. The group gave us different ways on how to prioritize yourself, how to take care of yourself, and how to make yourself happy. Some ways that I do for my self care is taking care of my skin, making myself look pretty like washing my hair, use clothes that I want to use in a specific time or day, and spending time with my family. Going outside to take a breather for a few minutes can also be considered as self care. Using drawing or painting as a hobby makes me happy as well...

In this post, I will write about the presentations that my class had to do. We all picked sections of the book "Comm6 Speech Communication" by Deanna D. Sellnow. All of us got into groups of three and had to choose either chapter three, nine, or ten. My group chose chapter ten.  One of the few main points of our chapter ten, was leadership that focuses on how to successfully improve guide and organize a group. We first started with the styles of leadership, later, one of my classmates in my group explained on how to make meetings successful for the ones who participate and those who are the audience. Finally, I was the one who presented the written, oral, and virtual formats of presenting in a group and how you can choose either one to use to communicate with your audience. However, we weren't the first group to present. The ones who actually presented were in group one and they presented chapter three. They presented about Intercultural Communication and it focused on ...

In post number two, I will write about the experience I had after watching, listening, and participating on the presentations. The overall theme was about happiness and each group had a subtopic to show. Group 1 presented Self Care, Group 2 presented Pay It Forward, and Group 3 presented Good Eating. Everyone had to discuss and search about their selecting and make it overall related with happiness, showing their benefits, their disadvantages, examples, and their relations.     Group 1 gave us a speech with a vast majority of ways to self-care, which is to maintain their health physically and mentally stable. The showing of setting goals for someone to act are inspiring and helpful to consider the ways to act. They also put several advises on the issues of dealing with the sleep and its issues. I also learned that self care is not always a thing that must rely only with the use of money, instead, there are ways to not have to waste your earning for your own...

Reflection based on presentations: For our last assignment, each group was in charge of a different topic to give an informational speech on. With that being said, this opened up a very good opportunity to retain new information, and I feel I did. The topics varied in similar but distinct directions so it was an interesting sight to see what my classmates came up with. From the pool of topics, we had good eating, self-care, and paying it forward. This was a unique set of topics to hear about because they are things my classmates and I can actually use in our day to day life. For the topic of "good eating", group 1 which is my group, was assigned the task of presenting on the facts of good eating. This was a very engaging opportunity to research a topic near home as we live in a country where dieting and weight is a nationwide issue that is often spoken about but never handled. If it is handled it is handled poorly which is why getting our information firsthand for this presen...

Post 2 Sofia Rangel  This time all the groups had a global theme of happiness and each team focused on three subtopics: Group 1 explained Self Care, Group 2 Pay It Forward, and Group 3 Good Eating. Following the global theme of happiness, each team made their investigation oriented to their subtopic to explain and give certain guidelines, examples, suggestions, advantages, and disadvantages of the best way to achieve happiness through taking care of one's body, mind, and relationships with others.  Group One’s theme was “Self-care” and they gave an overview of how to maintain one’s health is not only a physical process but also a mental and social one. The importance of exercising, having a clean diet, staying hydrated, having enough sleep, and having a positive mindset when taking care of one’s well-being. Along with this, our classmates gave us tips and guidance on how to improve our sleep habits, find more peace develop a positive mindset, and emphasized how big the i...

My thoughts on the presentation on the Group presentation summary of each chapter  1. acts out of kindness without expectations, they had assists with a movie called paying it forward. A operational of acting out of the pure kindness of your heart without expecting anything in return, the whole motive is if you can act out of kindness it would cause this psychological chain reaction of kindness. Acts of doing favors for others with out expectations is a very human thing to do the little things count, helping those around you is beautiful thing to do.The presentation was well structured and put together, they took their time & effort to collate the information as well as capturing the attention of each individual in the room, they're information on the topic was intriguing and overall accurate, the delivery about the discussion was entertaining along with each individuals respect for their members moment to speak. The quality of the presentation was a solid ten out of...

Post #1      This is my reflection post after our first round of presentations. Group 1 presented chapter 3, group 2 presented chapter 9, and my group (group 3) presented chapter 10.          Firstly, chapter 3 is titled "Intercultural Communication". Group 1 did a great job of presenting the topic and expanding the topic. They explained how the different cultures communicate amongst themselves and how they communicate with other groups. The forms of communication can range from verbal communication to non verbal communication. They also did a good job of informing us on why culture groups communicate in the way that they do and how it came to be that way. Culture, ethnicity, race, gender and background are all factors that influence how we communicate. Besides the content of the presentation, group 1 did a good job of conveying their message without getting off topic, and some members displayed signs that this ...

Post #2     After concluding our second round of presentations, I can honestly come away with a lot of positives from it. First, my group, group 3 presented. We gave an overview on healthy eating and dieting, different types of diets, and how healthy eating affects and is directly linked to self care and happiness. Healthy eating can affect everything from our mood to our relationships. It even has links to mental health/illness, as some types of foods can expose you to certain illnesses. Overall, the mediterranean diet is best for adult males and females. It provides a nutritious meal without being too heavy on calories. For college students, intermittent fasting is recommended. The 16/8 method is the most common method of intermittent fasting, and it consists of only eating in 8 hour windows throughout the day. To lose weight, you can start off by cutting 500-1000 calories a day. To maintain your current weight, you can multiply your weight by 12 and thats how many cal...
