After concluding our second round of presentations, I can honestly come away with a lot of positives from it. First, my group, group 3 presented. We gave an overview on healthy eating and dieting, different types of diets, and how healthy eating affects and is directly linked to self care and happiness. Healthy eating can affect everything from our mood to our relationships. It even has links to mental health/illness, as some types of foods can expose you to certain illnesses. Overall, the mediterranean diet is best for adult males and females. It provides a nutritious meal without being too heavy on calories. For college students, intermittent fasting is recommended. The 16/8 method is the most common method of intermittent fasting, and it consists of only eating in 8 hour windows throughout the day. To lose weight, you can start off by cutting 500-1000 calories a day. To maintain your current weight, you can multiply your weight by 12 and thats how many calories you need. Overall, I really learned a lot about healthy eating and how it can affect our happiness. I will surely be incorporating some of the tips I learned into my life. I personally enjoyed the process of this project, from the research to choosing the design for the presentation. Working in a group also made things easier, as we all had our own part to help. Even though we were working on our own particular section, the themes all fit well together and we each added important parts to the main message. I believe that our presentation was great. Everyone knew what they were talking about, and we weren't going off topic. My teammates displayed good public speaking skills, by keeping eye contact, projecting their voices, and keeping the audience engaged.
Group 2 went next. With their presentation, I learned a lot about self care and the different ways and methods people can engage in self care. From meditating, praying and even walking or exercising, there are many ways you can take care of yourself and stay active too. Group 2 did a great job when it came to explaining the topic of self care and how important it is to our happiness. Sometimes, people do not truly realize how crucial self care is, and often overlook it. It is important for us to worry not only about others, but about ourselves too. By making sure we are good, we can help those we care about and those around us to be good too. Group 2 provided many examples of self care and how people interpret it. It was helpful to see how people view self care in different cultures. Group 2 did a good job of speaking clearly and concise, allowing the audience to pay attention and understand the topic and its concepts. They also kept good eye contact and even conducted an interview (although we did not get to see it). Overall, I think group 2 deserves a good grade for all the excellent skills they demonstrated. They have improved a lot since our first presentation.
And last but not least, group 3. Group 3's theme was paying it forward, a very important theme. We learned the value in doing things for others without expecting anything back, and how it can start a ripple effect. We can create change in our community believe it or not. It all starts with the little things, the things that can make people's day. We learned about how there are many different ways to pay things forward, from doing favors to actual money. But regardless of the method, it has the same effect. Group 3 discussed the movie titled Paying It Forward, and the message of the movie. In the movie, there is a constant theme and message. Do something nice for someone, and don't expect anything in return. Do it anyway, because its the right thing to do. If all of us did this, it would create an immediate change in our surroundings, and would lift the spirits of those around us. Group 3 did a great job of stressing the importance of paying it forward. They also talked about personal experiences, times when someone paid it forward to them. and how it made them feel. They also discussed how paying things forward also has a positive effect on our happiness and mental health. By treating others the way we want to be treated, we gain happiness in the process. Helping others and seeing how much the little things can help is one of the most beautiful things we can witness and be a part of. Besides the content, group 3 seemed very lively and energetic. They spoke clearly and made sure their points were conveyed. They were knowledgeable about their topic and did not get off topic. I think they had a good team chemistry, they all fed off of one another. Overall it was a great presentation.
In conclusion, I would say this project was a success. It made us better speakers and orators, and we learned more about specific topics that we can apply to our daily life. It also brought our team together, as we all learned how to work together toward a common goal and meet a deadline. Hopefully our future projects are as successful. My topic was very helpful to learn about. I have been wanting to go on a diet for a long time now, but now I can say I am more educated on food and health. I've also been able to pass some information along to my family and friends. For example, they now know how many calories they should be consuming and what foods to stay away from. Men are recommended 2,000-2,400 calories daily, while women are recommended 1,600-2,000. In order to lose 1 pound a week, you can cut 500 calories daily. In order to lose 2, you can cut 1,000 calories daily. Its important to watch not only what you eat, but also how fast you are losing weight. Losing weight too rapidly and excessively is very dangerous, and you should seek medical attention if you find yourself in this situation. These are just some of the things I learned during this project, thank you for reading.
Very good reflection. Thank you for the great presentation and your reflection!
